User Setup for Accessing Business Suite

Requirements for accessing Business Suite from a workstation for the first time.

Accessing the Server


First ensure that you can connect to the server where Business Suite is installed.

  1. Open a web browser
  2. Go to the Business Suite URL http://<servername>/<application name>/

This will display the Business Suite home page which usually includes a link to the application and user documentation.


Installing Java 1.5


Verify Version

Check to see if you have Java 1.5 (update 5 or greater) installed on the workstation.

On Windows go to Start -> Run and enter javaws.

On Linux open a Terminal screen and enter javaws.

Check the version, click on Help -> About

Make sure the version if 1.5.0 and that the build (number after the _) is 05 or greater.

Installing Java 1.5


To install Java Run Time Engine (JRE) 1.5 go to http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp and follow the installation instructions.


When you are done, repeat the Verify Version section to make sure it is installed correctly.


Running Business Suite


Now return to the Business Suite home page with a web browser and click on the link to the application.  This will download the application and start it up.  Login with the username and password provided by your administrator.
